Japanese Edible Flowers

The photos are from the central DAIEI shop in Kobe (at Sannomiya station):

It seems that edible flowers were on sale already for several years in Japan but this was the first time we saw any.

We didn’t taste them yet but they definitely look beautiful (and delicious).

It is interesting to mention that the only edible flowers which we saw up to now were chrysanthemum. This one seems to be Antirrhinum majus or “snapdragon” in English.

Roku Mountain Winter Sunset

The photo is taken from a bridge above the JR line.

You can see Kobe, Nada ku. It was snowing on Roku mountain at that time. Very clean and frisky (as for Japan) winter afternoon.

Multilevel Japan

Always between the see and the mountains – this is Japan.

Its modern infrastructure had to evolve to accommodate this simple fact.

This is a glimpse of one of the thousands multilevel spots – Sumiyoshi (住吉) area close to Uozaki Rokku Liner station:

The train is Hanshin railway express (you can recognize that it is an express by the red strips).

Sorry that the video is a little bit shaky – I was in a hurry not to miss the train.

You see the river below. In most populated areas of Japan there is at least one such river every few hundred meters. Often they are surrounded by sakura (cherry) trees and they are very beautiful during the spring. On the other hand during the summer you can see very often kids playing in the water (as it was the case that late summer day – sorry no footage from this part of the trip).

Sorakuen Garden by Day and By Night
