Luminaria 2009, Kobe

  • December 6, 2009 6:09 am

Hi there, it’s Luminaria again!

It is opened everyday (till 14th of December) from around 18:00 till 22:00 (Monday – Thursday 21:30)

If you want to avoid the big crowds – go around 21:00 but then you risk to see the lights turned off just when it is most interesting :)

Enjoy the pictures (and the movies).

The Palace:

The crowd outside the palace:

And inside the palace (the mood was really joyful):

This is the decoration of the main street leading to the palace (there are traffic changes so you can not reach the main attractions in any other way but through this street):

And this are the crowds pouring through the street (Actually at that time (15 to 10 p.m.) the crowds were not so big. Sometimes it can take up to 2 hours to reach the main attractions!)

Just another random shot on my way way to the palace:

I must say – there were and some other attractions at the Luminaria but the sudden switch off of the lights at exactly 22:00 prevented me of taking anymore pictures. I may try this eveining again to reach it again but we shall see :)

And here are the movies. On the first one you can see both the main street and the light palace:

This one is from inside the palace. You can here and the music (for most of the time it is western classical including grigorian chants):

Yes, the feeling is really difficult to describe, especially when you visit it for a first time.
