Back from Okinawa

Just a short note – we are back from Okinawa. The good news is that Okinawa is great and we definitely go back again next year – a lot of shisa, a lot of delicious food, a lot of awamori (be careful with this one – the alcohol percentage is around 43 usually) and many, many other interesting things. The bad news is that may camera broke already during the first day so most of the photos will be from my iPhone (but don’t worry they are still OK).

So stay tuned and wait for the Okinawa (Naha city, Nago city  and surroundings) pictures overload.

PS. Just a few more random thoughts until the impressions are fresh in my head. The Okinawa people are more friendly then the “mainland” Japanese (the second are may be more polite but these are definitely two different things). The Okinawa itself looks like a hybrid between Japan and Hawaii or Japan and America if you wish. The Hawaiian is – the nature (the many flowers including) and the people. By the way it seems that the season of the flowers is the Winter in Okinawa or at least this is what our very friendly cap driver told us (and there were many, many nice flowers – I swear). Also apparently now (October) is the season when you can have a nice big beaches just for you and your friends as the Japanese in general do not swim during this part of the year (even though you will see everywhere “no swimming” signs as there are no safeguards any more except on really small surrounded by net parts of the beach managed by some local hotels). The temperature of the water is perfect for swimming – of course. And just one last thing – the sakura comes in January in Okinawa (again information from our all-knowing taxi driver). In Kobe in January we have only the plum trees  (ume in Japanese) sakura which is also very nice.
