Sail in the Field

  • October 30, 2009 2:44 pm

It was there – in the middle of the field. A perfect, blue sail on something like a ship wreckage. A few people around it recording and measuring with geodesic like instruments:

I saw it coming back from Kansai airport (from the Port Island Liner). The field is actually free of development land left between the [...]

Deep in Nagata (Kobe, Kansai)

  • October 27, 2009 8:49 am

What comes after Deep in Nada-ku 1 and 2? Of course – Deep In Nagata (may be I should add – “with iPhone” but this is really a technical detail).
Well nowadays everybody goes to Nagata to see the Tetsujin (Gigantor) statue and we did so but the most interesting part was after that – the [...]

Deep in Nada-Ku 2

  • October 26, 2009 4:05 am

This is a continuation of my previous post Deep in Nada-Ku and is for everybody who doesn’t believe that there is 19 century English saloon in the heart of Nada Ward.
First – pictures from the saloon itself.
Pretty English, isn’t it? :)
If you end up in this museum/saloon I strongly recommend the sake set (it comes [...]

Deep In Nada-ku

  • October 24, 2009 4:38 pm

Today was a local day – a day dedicated to visiting the hood. Where exactly is our hood? Our hood spreads from HAT Kobe to Rokkomichi. Theoretically it should encompass and Sannomiya but around Sannomiya there is too big clustering of gaijins so we rather keep away from there (“we wish no trouble here” :)). [...]

Obon dances and paper lanterns

  • October 23, 2009 3:16 pm

I just updated chottomattenet youtube chanel with many new videos (mainly from the recent HAT Kobe festival and from the summer JR sponsored Nishinada Obon festival). Here I will upload only two of the most interesting videos. They are both from the Obon Nishinada (Kobe) festival. The festival was very local but it turned out [...]

RIKEN Next Generation Supercomputer

  • October 23, 2009 4:05 am

RIKEN Next Generation Supercomputer – it will be the most powerful computer in the world when it starts to operate on May, 2010 so I decided that it deserves a separate page. I will try to update it regularly with images of the construction site (which is located nearby). Here is the link to the [...]

Awamori – Okinawa diaries 1

  • October 22, 2009 2:13 pm

As promised here comes my first blog entry for Okinawa and yes it is dedicated to awamori.

Awamori – I like how it sounds. It is pure, it is strong and it reminds me about Rakia (a strong Bulgarian beverage). I like it. Just be careful with it. Some of the awamori brands contain 60% alcohol!!! [...]

Back from Okinawa

  • October 21, 2009 1:35 pm

Just a short note – we are back from Okinawa. The good news is that Okinawa is great and we definitely go back again next year – a lot of shisa, a lot of delicious food, a lot of awamori (be careful with this one – the alcohol percentage is around 43 usually) and many, [...]

HAT Kobe festival – mini steam locomotives and dancing girls

  • October 17, 2009 4:55 pm

Here comes a new entry of my blog.
Today we visited the HAT Kobe festival. Really quite reach of experiences day. First – I created some time ago a page for the world smallest steam locomotive http://chottomatte.net/blog/the-smallest-ever-functional-steam-locomotive/. Well I was wrong – there is smaller. I really don’t know if Kobe is the capital of [...]

The Autumn is Here

  • October 16, 2009 7:43 am

They say this year is one of the coolest in record. Seems to be indeed the case. Sacura came later then usual and the autumn seems to be here already (in Kobe the leaves usually become yellow/red in November). This is the picture I just took near my work.
