Mamatomo Present
Yes, it finally happened.
I received today my first official mamatomo present. May be you wonder what is mamtomo? Well it is simple – it comes from mama and tomodachi (friend in japanese). This is an important social activity for all the mothers who have babies and go for a first time with them outside to socialize with the other mothers from the hood (and their kids). Well I an not mama but rather papa but anyway the socializing went really fine despite my pitiful Japanese language skills and despite the fact that I do not have akachan (baby) but a three year old ball of pure energy and rage (with tendency to turn ultra-shy when she meets the other kids and mamas).
Anyway the story with the mamatomo present was simple. We arrived as usual in our in “front of the block playground” where the rest of the mamas and kids were in advance mamatomo session. Of course my three years ball of energy turned mega/ultra-shy and I have to re-socialize her (as I do almost every day) by offering all the kids mush mallows (an action she was supposed to perform). The kids like them. The mamas thanked. Later, much later when I was deep in the Internet realm thanks to my iPhone and my energy ball already had entered her more natural state of run and shout a girl came to me and handled my very first mamatomo present – a couple of nice sweat potatoes. I thank to the mamas and soon after we all were leaving for home.
