Tiramisu Mochi
What will happen if Italy and Japan ‘cousins’ meet each other? – Tiramisu mochi of course:
As you might know, mochi is a traditional Japanese food prepared from rice pounded to paste, shaped in round form. It is very popular around New Year.
Tiramisu is the famous Italian dessert which name means – tira (take, lift) mi (me) su (up)!
The tiramisu mochi appeared for a first time on Sunday morning in our local supermarket and by Tuesday evening it was already gone. And with a good reason – it simply took the best of two worlds! The soft and gentle taste of the rice coat…
… encompassed a rich and flamboyant core of real Mediterranean treasure:
The taste was so saturated sweat and caffeinated that I was genuinely surprised that such thing could be created in the “Empire of the Sun”.
In conclusion – surprisingly good combination of Japanese softness and hot Mediterranean temperament. And if you happen to be in Japan these days I strongly recommend you to start looking around in the local supermarkets and combinis for the new – Tiramisu mochi. It will really lift you up!
