Japan Summer – Jelly Drinks Bonanza

This week Chottomatte’s ever growing collection of weird drinks increased with not just one but several new additions. The primary sources of these new entries was a Pokka vending machine from our neighborhood.

Pokka vending machines are not so common in Japan but once you find them hidden treasures will be revealed in front of you. In our particular case the treasures were located in the lower right corner – an array of jelly can drinks:

The first one from the left is jelly, fruit juice – really nice and testy in the hot summer. The second one – Cola up – is more interesting though:

It tastes like cola and guess what – it is with gas! Yup – a gassed jelly! The chottomatte’s team was heavily divided on this drink. Roughly 50% found it very testy and the other 50% really disgusting. So no definitive judgment here.

The next one – canned  jelly pudding was surprisingly good:

No gas here. Just a classical milky pudding taste.
