Hazardous Material – Toothpick

Everybody knows that Japan is a safe country. Using chopsticks accompanied with a toothpick posts a real challenge over the safety design of the package. Lets see how the unknown designer solved the problem:

First – put at least two warning signs (A) on the chopstick package (with English translation of course). Also add a cartoon showing the possible harmful consequences of inappropriate handling of the item.

Create a dedicated opening site on the package (B) as far away as possible from the toothpick (and label it clearly – Open here).

Orient the toothpick with the sharp side opposite to the opening place (C).

Obviously use a transparent packaging so that the user is alert of the potential danger and have visual control over the toothpick.

And voila – the package is ready for delivery to the end user
