The Smoking Bodybuilder – Japanese funny commercials I

Ever wonder how the bodybuilders make their bodies? Many hours of hard training in the gym may be? Actually not. It’s much simpler. They just have a cigarette (or two) from time to time or at least this is what the new cigarette commercial on the Japanese cigarette vending machines tries to convince us:

I took the picture during the weekend and apparently it represents a new twist in the Japanese cigarette marketing strategy. The last commercial I remember (from a Japanese cigarette vending machines) was a wolf in a winter forest (not smoking anything). I do not know how the jump from a wild animal to a bodybuilder was done but apparently this is what cells the product now.

In general Japan is still a very heavy smoking country and it is sometimes really difficult to survive if you are a non smoker. I wish to think that the spark of “creativity” in this commercial is a sign of dropping cigarette sells but it is Japan (you know) and one never knows…
